Senior Philanthropic Advisor Whitney Hosty sat down with Community Foundation donor Susanne Shutz and Kansas City Young Audiences (KCYA) Executive Director Martin English on the most recent episode of the Grow Your Giving podcast. They discussed the latest trends in arts education and integration and explored how philanthropy plays a role in engaging students of all backgrounds in the arts.

Susanne is a lifelong supporter of the arts and recently attended a Donor-to-Donor education event, where she was inspired by KCYA’s mission to engage all youth in the arts, promote creativity and inspire success in education. In addition to the traditional dance, theater, musical and visual arts classes offered at its newly remodeled facility, KCYA helps bring art to life for students across the Kansas City metro area by sending professional artists into local classrooms and equipping teachers with the skills necessary to integrate arts into their curriculum.

“Every child is born an artist,” says Martin. “We just want to keep that going.”
