At the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, our role is to help people give in ways that reflect what matters most to them.
Our donors bring a wide range of interests, perspectives and values to their philanthropy. To honor that, we remain cause-neutral. In practice, that means we rely on the IRS to determine whether a donor-advised fund can support a specific charitable organization. Here, donor-advised fund grants can go to any 501(c)(3) public charities in the United States, including governmental, educational and religious institutions. This unbiased, balanced approach allows us to stay focused on what we do best: facilitating charitable giving to our donors’ chosen causes.
We also know that donors come to us to grow their charitable dollars, and they care how those assets are managed. That is why we offer flexibility here, too. Donors can work with their own financial advisor to invest donor-advised fund assets, or they can select from a range of investment pools, including options that incorporate environmental, social and governance considerations.
Philanthropy is personal. Our responsibility is to provide a trusted, flexible platform that respects that. Whether a donor is recommending grants, shaping an investment strategy or planning for long-term impact, our team can provide thoughtful, tailored guidance aligned with each donor’s goals.
