Robert A. Long Scholarship Fund

This scholarship opportunity was established in memory of Robert A. Long by his family to provide educational scholarships to graduating seniors from Southeast High School in Cherokee, Kansas (or its successor), who are either from McCune, Kansas or who attended the McCune Attendance Center (or its successor high school serving the same region) and who plan to further their education at a two- or four-year college or university, or an accredited technical school.

Eligibility: 

Students eligible to apply for this assistance shall:

  • Be graduating seniors from Southeast High School in Cherokee, Kansas;
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale or its equivalent;
  • Be from either McCune, Kansas or have attended the McCune Attendance Center (or its successor school serving the same region); and
  • Plan to enroll at a two- or four-year college or university or, an accredited technical school upon high school graduation.

Consideration will be given to a student’s academic record, extracurricular activities, community service and work record. Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in two equal payments in August and January for the fall and spring semesters. The second installment will be released upon proof of good academic progress (transcript required to substantiate). The scholarship is non-renewable.
