Make the Most of Your Company's Year-End Giving
Soon, snow will cover the ground, twinkle lights will brighten the city and giving season will be in full swing. Year-end giving campaigns can inspire your company and employees to embrace the spirit of the season. At our most recent Corporate Giving Network, companies from across Kansas City and beyond met to discuss strategies they use to involve their employees and customers in their holiday giving.
Align Your Business Mission with Your Holiday Giving Campaign
Kansas City Southern’s business is rail, and their annual Holiday Express Train uses their rail network to bring a six-car train with Santa and his elves to 22 communities in the U.S. Funds are raised from employees, vendors and donors across the country, and at each stop, Kansas City Southern donates gift cards to the local Salvation Army to allow families in need to purchase clothing and other necessities.
Match Employees’ Charitable Gifts
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has created a year-round culture of giving among employees, but their holiday giving is extra special. By generously matching their employees’ holiday financial gifts with $4 for each employee's $1 donation, employees can make a bigger impact with their charitable dollars. Even better, when 90 percent of employees participate in the program, the Kauffman Foundation increases their already generous match from $4 to $6. In honor of Mr. K’s 100th Birthday Celebration, their goal is to have 100 percent participation – a goal they are very close to hitting.
Utilize Giving Cards
Consider giving your employees custom Giving Cards this holiday season. Fike Corporation’s Board of Directors chose to give every employee a Fike-branded Giving Card as part of their year-end giving campaign. Giving Cards can be redeemed to benefit any 501(c)(3) public charity in the U.S., so each employee chose their own charity to support. After the redemption period, Fike reviewed what causes their employees supported, allowing the company to align their future giving with employee interests.
We will hold our 2017 Corporate Giving Network sessions on February 15, June 21 and September 20. If you would like to attend, or if you would like to receive invites to future Corporate Giving Network sessions, contact Sidney Peterson at email@example.com or 816.627.3414.
