Looking Forward to 2016
2015 was an exciting year for the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Donors explored the arts, small business leaders strategized their giving and we welcomed children to our office to learn more about philanthropy. Our beloved Royals took the crown, and thanks to our donors, we were honored with a very special recognition.
To continue the momentum of such a successful year in charitable giving, we’ve added some exciting events to the calendar. Here is what’s in store for 2016.
Corporate Giving Network: These events are designed to help corporate charitable givers brainstorm how to make the most of their charitable giving through informal discussions and short presentations. If you’re interested in attending, add our 2016 Corporate Giving Network events to your calendar.
- January 20, “Using Corporate Giving Programs to Attract and Retain Employees”
- April 20, “Sharing Employee Expertise – Loaned Executives, Volunteers and Board Placement”
- July 20, “Giving Fatigue: How to Make ‘No’ Sound like ‘Yes’”
- October 19, Topic TBD
Donor-to-Donor: This is an opportunity to meet with charitable peers and discuss how to make your giving more meaningful. Whether you are new to philanthropy or are a long-time donor, you can connect with others who want to use their resources wisely; meet donors who can inspire and mentor you; and gain knowledge, confidence and momentum in your philanthropy.
Later next fall, Lisa Parker, founder of Family Circle Advisors, will visit Kansas City to discuss how to include the next generation of philanthropists in your family’s giving.
Youth Giving Council: This program aims to help teens become leaders in giving and will provide opportunities to complete service hours and participate in experiences worthy of a college application essay. Youth Giving Council will kick off early in 2016.
To receive invites to any of these events, contact Sidney Peterson at 816.627.3414 or email@example.com.
We hope you will join us at one of our many opportunities for you, your family or your company to make the most out of your giving. From all of us at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Greater Horizons, Happy New Year!
