Getting in the Giving Spirit
Recently, families headed out with full stomachs for Black Friday shopping. Others decided to support their local businesses by participating in Small Business Saturday, and still more found the best Cyber Monday deals.
To end the stretch of "named" days after Thanksgiving, many got into the spirit of giving by participating in Giving Tuesday, a day that brings awareness to different causes and reminds donors to give before the year ends.
If you want to continue your giving spirit or missed out on this annual giving day, there’s still time to make the most of your charitable giving in 2015. By opening a charitable giving account, also known as a donor-advised fund, you can organize and maximize your giving. Because the Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity, your donation is tax deductible. You can then grow your charitable dollars and grant them out, on your timeline, to nonprofit organizations of your choice.
